Thanks to Alaric's positive review of MLR, I headed out for my first ski of the year. I got to the parking lot a few minutes before all the skiers from Saskatchewan arrived and I was the first one on the snow. Good news: it snowed a few centimeters overnight/this morning! Bad news: breaking trail is slow work. I started on Rode Multigrade and that worked until the Paradise parking lot, where it started icing and I switched to VR40. Poles hit pavement in the typical thin spots, but my skis didn't get any new scrapes. The Sask team was skating and it looked like a few skis may have lost their edges, though. After a trip up and down MLR, I headed up Tramline towards Lake Louise. There was a narrow, walker/fatbike packed path down the middle of the trail that made for decent skiing. Good coverage, no rocks. After I got back down to MLR, I kept following Tramline down to the road crossing and came back up. Again, no rocks!

Hello Sara! I'm glad you got to enjoy the new snow on MLR this morning. Too bad about the skate skiing on thin snow, and they probably tried that on the Great Divide too :-(
