Discussion:

We set out to see if we could find some snow today. We were not disappointed: both PLPP and Mount Shark (see Helen Read's April 5th report) continue to have good snow packs. We only saw three other cars in the parking lot and ran into no one on the trails.

The nicely groomed Whiskey Jack beckoned us today. It was Jody's first time and she handled the steepness like a champ. Her skin ski's again performed well, managing to avoid some of the clumping issues that my waxed skis encountered.

After resting at the Pocaterra picnic table, we headed off towards Packers. Surprise: the direct sunlight on Pocaterra caused the snow to stick like glue to both of our skis (great snowman making conditions!). Instead, we made the decision to retrace our steps down Whiskey Jack, which is well sheltered from the sun. It was a fantastic ski down!

Temperatures were -1 rising to +6 degrees. The key these days is to arrive early before things warm up.

Whiskey Jack Trail is in good condition

Pocaterra Trail is skier trackset. The sun got to it today.

Fresh bread, ready for the oven at Boulton Creek

Blue Skies!

No Whiskey Jacks were spotted today, but I did see this swan

Jody figures this is her last time out this season. We shall see...
