I skied up to Sundance Lodge from Sunshine road today. I was hoping for fresh grooming for the weekend crowd. It was not to be. It has been quite some time since this trail was last groomed. Fortunately it is not icy but the major downhills are a bit rutted from the snow mobile traffic. With my metal edged skis it was not too bad coming down.

I skied all of Healy Creek (also not recently groomed). This trail does not see a lot of traffic so walker damage was minimal. The snow condition is actually surprisingly good (except for about 100 m right at the beginning (south end) beside the Sunshine ski area road.

I also skied the Cave and Basin to Sundance Canyon trail. There has been lots of walker / fat biker traffic but mostly not on the set track. The section right beside the Bow River is pretty wind blown. The track set is barely even visible here but in the trees is still reasonable even though it has been a long time since a grooming pass.

Total distance: 35.80 Km
