I skied the entire Pipestone network today. The staff at the visitor centre indicated that conditions were "fair". I would say that it was a little bit better than that. There was only one real hazard on the route, a partially caved in section of groomed trail over a little creek near the top of the hill on Hector (about 1/2 km shy of the meadow). Downhills were decent although I was using metal edged waxless skis. Edgeless skis might be more problematic. There has not been much snow this week so if the upcoming storm does not dump much at Lake Louise, there is a fair bit of pine needle coverage on the trail in the pine forest sections.

I encountered 2 grooming / tracking units a couple of times late in the afternoon as I was doing the west side of the network. They had come up Hector, but it was after I had done it. I got to ski down Pipestone west on a freshly groomed surface. It is still a bit lumpy out there, still early season for sure.
