DISCUSSION ABOUT THE POLITICS OF SKIING IN BANFF AND THE
UNDEMOCRATIC TRUDEAU LIBERALS INCREASING NATIONAL PARK FEES AND POTENTIALLY INTRODUCING CROSS COUNTRY SKI FEES IN 2023

Discussion:

I was searching the Yoho National Park website for ski trails when I stumbled across information about fee increases. I quickly moved to the Banff National Park website and found similar information.

The following link suggests there "MAY" be taxing tariffs for Cross Country Skiers in Banff coming in 2023!

Copy and paste the following link to read for yourself:
https://www.pc.gc.ca/en/voyage-travel/tarifs-fees. It is not absolute clear but the government is always muddy.

Parks Canada has slashed so much in our National Parks over the last 30 years and greatly increased fees for most everything. Backpacking trips I used to do for free under Prime Minister Trudeau Senior were free as they should be. Under Prime Ministers Mulroney, Chretien, Martin and Harper the cost was $65/per year. Then comes the corrupt lying Prime Minister Trudeau Junior. The fees for backpacking went through the roof. Single trips that I once did for free or for $65 now cost over $400- unjustly for a single trip! This is highway robbery for sleeping on dirt by Prime Minister Trudeau. Now he may be going after the cross country skiers with taxes like he did with the backpackers- as predicted in the past on Skier Bob.

If you are tired of being taxed to death while corporations receive huge subsidies from your taxes to pay dividends or increase CEO bonuses or just to increase share prices, then write your MP's and the media. Fight like hell for your xc skiing that is paid for by National Park entrance fees. Better yet, help form a new political party that will legalize your right to introduce and vote on government bills (maybe using a cell phone), because the majority of sane Canadians would reject increased fees for using our own lands if we lived in a real democracy. Our opposition parties are also silent on the issue of increased National Park fees because of ignorance or they are just poor parliamentary politicians who don't care about the less wealthy.

Truck drivers utilize highways through our National Parks but are not charged for use, particularly those who illegally sleep along the highways like at Vermilion Lakes in Banff. It is time to make all drivers going through the parks pay their fair share as your park pass fees go to plowing and maintaining roads and the truckers don't pay. This is unfair. The roads are the most costly part of Banff Park to maintain and trucks beat the hell out of them. Stop the XC skiing fees for the minimal service provided that helps reduce the health care budgets. The government can obtain extra revenues in other ways including lotteries and taxing the super rich and corporations similar to the way it was in the 1960's. The government can also cut spending in dumb areas like clear cutting National Park forests along with burning them. This is a complete waste of money. Anyone with a building in Banff that needs fire protection should have sprinklers put on the roof and surrounding area to prevent fire. This is the most logical and best means of stopping fires at the owner's expense rather than subsidizing clear cutting and burning forests in our national parks for the benefit of those that own building there. Such activities should be banned in our parks as they once were under Mulroney. Wages of top bureaucrat National Park management could also be cut. The money should be utilized in a way so that the poor can also enjoy our National Parks. I would be happy to be the Superintendent for a wage of $35,000 per year, without benefits, to save Canadians money as long as I can use a Warden Cabin for accommodation. Opening up jobs to the free market would bring costs down as well. We need expensive gun trained and side arm gun toting wardens in Banff like we need a hole in our wallets when we have RCMP in the park packing a whole lot of fire power. This is just money wasted that could be better utilized.

The government(s) suggests fees are needed because of too many people utilizing the parks. The former mayor of Calgary suggests the more people that come here the higher the taxes. Well perhaps it is time to have a democratic referendum on population growth if costs for things like parks, road infrastructure, water, sewer, health care, social programs, policing, housing, skiing and so much more are going to continue to go through the roof. Just look at the cost of parking in some areas of the park now. In the future, the cost for playing in Banff will go through the roof with 50 million people in Canada by 2050 (excluding: tourists, non residents and temporary foreign workers) and the park will either be way over crowded or just a playground for the wealthy if something is not done now to halt what the government is doing.

If you are not vocal about increased taxes or tariffs on XC skiing, the poor will no longer be able to visit and use our parks which is morally unethical. Elitist rich Trudeau is turning Banff into a playground for the wealthy only. It is time to ski over Trudeau and his expensive Liberal debt accumulating friends. Our parks should be universal for all, like health care, free road use, old age pensions, day care etc.

In politics there is a saying: If you don't participate, you collaborate. Don't collaborate with Trudeau or parliamentarians that don't care about our over taxed parks.

Make way for real democracy for a much better ski country for all to benefit from.
