Magical day in PLPP

Participants:

Tyrwhitt Loop which consists of Whiskey Jack, Tyrwhitt, Elk Pass, Fox Creek and Moraine. (Okay, there's also 500 metres of Pocaterra).

Discussion:

I drove home with a big grin. I couldn't have picked a better day to ski my all-time favourite loop. Cold snow, beautiful weather, good tracksetting and friendly skiers to meet.

There were varying amounts of fresh snow on the trails but the tracks were well-defined and in excellent shape. Tanya and Richard were ahead of me on Whiskey Jack, so I had well-polished tracks to follow. I was shocked to discover that I was the first one on Tyrwhitt today.

The temperature at 11:15 a.m. was -5 and I had great grip using VR45(-2/-8). Most of the loop was sunny, but I could see the Elk Pass cloud shimmering in the sunshine as I was driving out. Sure enough, the top of Elk Pass was cloudy.

Fox Creek and Moraine were at their best with remarkably clean snow and excellent tracks. Going in the downhill direction on Fox Creek is such a delight. The Moraine hill was safe and controllable.

Tyrwhitt in all its splendour

Whiskey Jack

Tanya and Richard on Tyrwhitt

The snow on Moraine and Fox Creek was remarkably clean.

Elk Pass: There was a skiff of new snow over Wednesday's tracksetting but well skied-in.

Great to finally chat with you, Bob, after following the Bob/Roger multiverse for so many years! It seems like you're the PLPP paparazzi now.
Excellent conditions on the modified SkierBob special loop (Whiskey Jack, Tyrwhitt, Hydroline, Patterson, Elk Pass, Fox Creek, Moraine). VR40 on the vintage Rustad woodies gave great grip and glide.
