Discussion:

-4 and 2nd car in parking lot at 9 am, after dropping off hubby, the downhiller. Thought my Rode -2 to -6 would work but struggled greatly up first section of #20 counter-clockwise. One fairly skinny tree down but easy to skirt around. Drummond looked so much better that I deviated from the norm, and skied around the Pond, and then tried going up Blue the clockwise method with a warmer blue wax. Great tracks through all open areas and flicked quite a few branches and twigs off the grooming (done Feb 6). Explored about 1.5 kms of the backcountry trail and then enjoyed the descent to Merlin, where I happily ran into some friends. Stuck with green Drummond and Hector for final descent. All good!! One Pine Marten greeted me early morning on Drummond. Snowed on and off all day.

Hi Helen,

What were the snow conditions on the backpacking/horse trail that you went up for 1.5 km?

Was there deep ski penetration or was it skier tracked?

I only took the skier set track about 1.5 kms back, as I was alone and not wanting to ski up the river by myself. Not sure how to differentiate between "deep ski pen" vs skier tracked.
