Thanks for the updates on the loppet course. Tracks don't look too icy. Wow, you covered 72km today! That gives me hope that I can complete the 36km distance.

Discussion:

While this Saturday's race of the Lake Louise to Banff Loppet has been shortened to 36 kms, ending at Castle Junction, this is your chance to make it the historic 72 km course... just ski back to where you started!
Strange that the Parks Canada Trail Condition report says that all sections are GOOD... I would say:
Castle Junction to Castle Lookout POOR
Castle Lookout to Baker Creek FAIR
Baker Creek to Lake Louise GOOD
If you have registered to race, make sure you try it out before race day.
Nice to meet so many friends between Castle Lookout and Baker Creek, but this is the time to ski west of Baker Creek... Parks Canada does not allow it to be trackset after the loppet!
Enjoy.

Starting towards Lake Louise at Castle Junction (the planned Finish Line) I should have recognized the challenges ahead

Norbert and Sylvia know the strategy for this upcoming race... Double Pole all the way!

I take a break at Baker Creek, until my ski boots start to steam!

The best conditions of the course... were found west of Baker Creek

Even under the bridges at Lake Louise, conditions were no worse than usual

But heading back via Corral Creek was a delight
