Parks Canada trail reports back online this morning. Guessing that they were down for site maintenance.

I am also unable to access either Banff or Yoho trail reports, from the usual links :-(

Desktop and 2 mobile devices all say "Safari cannot open the page because the server cannot be found". Only for Parks Canada.

Discussion:

As James at Baker Creek told me later, the Parks Canada Trail Condition Report is WRONG.
The trail is NOT groomed to Protection Mountain Campground!
Furthermore, he told me that Parks is not allowing them to groom west of the Chalets this year, sighting wildlife concerns. They will be allowed a two week window for the Lake Louise to Banff Loppet.
This is hard to understand given all the current disturbance by CP and Alta-Link in the area.
On the brighter side, as soon as they have a foot of snow, Brandon will be tracksetting to Protection Campground... and beyond!

Looks reasonable to start

Parks Trail Report is very misleading. Should say only groomed for 1 km

Trailhead parking lot is not plowed. Best to park at the Chalets

A few avoidable hazards in that first 1 km

Ice on first creek crossing is too thin

I found this bridge, but it is too rough for grooming equipment.
