I am glad you gently rebroke my old ski trail up to the old trappers cabin. That will make it faster for the next person to ski.
I hope the next trip up that way will have you skiing into Sundance Warden Cabin. That would be a good excuse to reward yourself with a nice tasty craft brewski after a moderate difficulty skiing work out like that.
I think you may enjoy Ball Pass campground and beyond now for a future metal edge ski. The ski trail and scenery awaits your presence and photo captions via the Haiduk Creek delta into Shadow Lake.
Ski ya later

Great report, Chuck. Nice to see what is up the valley beyond Sundance Lodge, and some interesting history. Beautiful sunshine too (which I didn't have there last Friday)

History has it that Turtle Tom was a Chef at the Banff Springs Hotel, and he raised his Turtles here at this cabin. The Turtle Soup was a favourite on the menu!
I was glad I brought backcountry pole baskets for the section beyond Sundance Lodge. My light touring skis with green wax worked well. I was surprised by the change in temperature: Woke to minus 26 in Banff, waited until it rose to minus 15 before I started skiing. It was zero when I got back to the car on the Sunshine access road.
And I didn't need a headlamp or tonight's full moon to get home!
Nice to meet fellow skiers, Raymond and Heidi.
A fun and interesting day.
Consider this report as an extension to my February 28 report, which ended here at Sundance Lodge
From the Lodge, take this snowshoe packed trail
Soon you will be passing this junction to Fatigue Pass
Easy trail breaking following Mr. Dem's track
No one had actually gone up to the cabin
I made myself as comfortable as I could!
