Hmmm. This article has seeded an idea to improve trails in Banff.

I like the idea that the Fairmont corporation team, as per the article, grooms and tracksets trails in Banff without charging people to use them. If this is really the case, this needs to be expanded in many ways.

There are a number of "public relations unfriendly" businesses in Banff that suck dollars from your wallet yet do not contribute to making the park better even though they are given the privilege of operating in the park. With a good public relations internet campaign, such businesses could be "encouraged" to contribute to making better ski and summer trails in Banff. A society of trail friendly businesses could be formed. This would then expand the Fairmont model. It would also take pressure off of the Banff superintendent who (won't) spend upgrading trails in summer or winter.

I personally would like a volunteer army to legally work on trials in Banff and elsewhere to reduce dependency on taxing Governments. Unfortunately the governments come up with excuses saying this can't be done which is a load of brown snow.

That doesn’t seem accurate? I was there on Friday and Fairview looked very nicely trackset….

Grooming Report From Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Team

Report Submitted by SkierRoger

Submitted: Saturday Dec 11, 2021

Discussion:

Here is a grooming update for the Lake Louise Upper trails:

Fairview Loop (#2): Double trackset Dec. 3, skier set over fresh snow. Poor condition.

Shoreline (#4): Skier set, poor condition. Several large trees are down blocking the trail, work is underway and we hope to finish by mid next week.

Lake Trail (#4): The Lake has frozen up quite quickly since last week's rain and is just below the threshold for thickness. With a little luck it will be over 15cm of ice throughout by next week.

Upper Telemark and Peyto Trails (#5, #7): Sled packed and leveled, Dec. 11. We will trackset the first of next week.
