I'd recognize that orange jacket anywhere, Helene. Yes, Pipestone got tracked on Jan 29th as per Trail Reports on this site, but if you ever get a chance, try to offer feedback for Parks to adopt the Nordic Pulse system. The trouble is there is a track setter who works directly for Chateau Lake Louise and he covers certain tracks. Then Parks/Lake Louise look after likely the remainder out that way. Also, we have the Banff Tracksetter who has been mentioned very favourably in recent posts, as the regular track setter is off work currently. They ALL do a fabulous job, but as for clearing out parking lots, that sure would be helpful information to know for XC skiers.

Discussion:

Arrived late to 15cms. of fresh snow. Parking lot not plowed, trails partially skier tracked but the deep snow, deep silence made for a special day in Nature's beauty. Snowing heavily when we left 3:30pm.

Before heading out, tried to get some information from Parks Canada: first on the website, then by calling the Lake Louise Info Centre (they didn't answer my 2 attempts), then by showing up in person (still no info regarding plowing and track setting). If anyone knows where to get such up to date info, please let me know ,-)
