Discussion:

Started off at the crack of noon (typical retiree schedule) at the Boulton Creek Bridge parking lot. Bluebird day and temperature stayed about – 7C throughout the trip. VR30 seemed to work just fine.

The clockwise route was up Packers to Pocaterra, Tyrwhitt, Hydroline, Patterson (enjoyed first tracks on this segment), Elk Pass, Fox Creek, Boulton Creek. The grunt up Packers to Tyrwhitt had a few centimeters of soft snow over recent tracksetting and that helped the grip wax. From Tyrwhitt onward was beautiful, crisp, clean tracksetting virtually all the way back to the parking lot. Surprisingly, this trackset was not particularly fast, but did offer effortless, silky bliss on the mostly downhill run from Hydro line. Still enough snow on the trees for a Winter Wonderland, especially through the enchanted forest of Fox Creek and Boulton Creek. Much gratitude to the hard-working groomers and our great fortune for such a great XC skiing venue.
