We started around 9:45am from the trailhead on light touring and AT skis and skins. The hiking trail was very icy, not fun, but ok for climbing up. Once we reached Boom Lake we discovered that the ice surface was firm with a few cm of dry snow on top. Perfect to skate ski across to the end. The frozen waterfalls were amazing! Managed even a couple of cautious turns on solid crust and dust. After a lunch stop on our way back we decided to ski down the creek, as a group of Rambler skiers had done a week prior. What a fun return route and very scenic! Snow had softened up enough. We followed old AT skier tracks that lead to one of the couloirs. There were just a few narrow, steeper sections to navigate, but mostly very enjoyable cruising along the creek and over snowbridges.
