I couldn't resist when I saw this morning's grooming report and cold temperature in PLPP.

Considering it's April 10, I had excellent conditions on Whiskey Jack, Tyrwhitt, and Elk Pass. Fox Creek and Moraine were fine with fresh snow on top of an icy base. Even the final hill on Moraine was safe.

It was -5 when I started and didn't go above -2.

Starting out, the tracks on Whiskey Jack were glazed so I used VR55(0/-3) for the climb. It started snowing soon after, which would have caused some sticking, but all I had to do was ski on the corduroy which gave good grip and excellent glide. Many of the skiers I talked to started out with blue wax on the cold snow.

The snow stopped midway on Tyrwhitt and I had fast tracks for the remainder of the trip. Best of all, there were no snow fleas(collembola) and no tree debris on the trails.

I had the pleasure of skiing part of the way with Janice and Charlie Perry. You may remember Janice as the Poet Laureate from my blog. I've posted a link with one of her many poems.
