The PLPP report showed fresh overnight grooming on Elk Pass-Tyrwhitt-Whiskey Jack... on April 18. It was an opportunity not to be missed. Conditions were amazing, right from the Elk Pass parking lot. Perfect track setting, great grip and superb glide. We started up towards Elk Pass, but were lured to Blueberry Hill by the excellent conditions on that trail. Then we wandered across the West Elk Pass Meadows to the junction with the Elk Lakes power line trail. Then back to Alberta and down Hydroline... but not for very long, because conditions were also perfect for the lovely Patterson Meadows route to the Patterson trail. Then down great tracks on Patterson and a fast, smooth ride down Elk Pass trail to Fox Creek. Everything else was great, so why not try Fox Creek. It was not track set, but was very good. Smooth, nicely levelled and wonderfully "edge able" fast snow. Who knew that the last day of grooming would provide the best conditions of the season?
