We haven’t spent enough time skiing in the Banff area this winter so today we were off to experience Healy Creek and the Sundance Trail.

Our trip began from the Healy/Brewster parking lot where the temperature was a very pleasant -5 degrees. We skied past the Brewster Creek junction and on to Sundance Canyon and then the Sundance Trail. The Sundance Trail offers some beautiful views as you approach Vermilion Lakes & Banff. If you’re thinking about introducing others to this sport, this a good option as it's reasonably flat and forgiving.

This trail was trackset a couple of days prior and we found it to be in good condition, despite the fairly thin snow pack. Some pine needles and few dirty spots were evident, however the trail cleaned up immensely the further we went.

We were overtaken by a couple of groomers on our return. They were coming back from grooming Sundance Lodge via Brewster Creek trail. We had a nice chat with one of the fellows at the trailhead. He explained that last year at this time they were dealing with 3 feet of snow. Not at all the case this season.
