History has it that Turtle Tom was a Chef at the Banff Springs Hotel, and he raised his Turtles here at this cabin. The Turtle Soup was a favourite on the menu!
I was glad I brought backcountry pole baskets for the section beyond Sundance Lodge. My light touring skis with green wax worked well. I was surprised by the change in temperature: Woke to minus 26 in Banff, waited until it rose to minus 15 before I started skiing. It was zero when I got back to the car on the Sunshine access road.
And I didn't need a headlamp or tonight's full moon to get home!
