Discussion:

It was -20 when we started, so we decided to head south in search of sunny warmer weather. We warmed up climbing up the wonderful grooming on east Sundog and Iron Springs. The grip was very solid on the cold snow. By the time we reached the high point on Iron Springs we could start to feel the warmth from the brilliant sunshine. Continuing down to the Iron Creek junction we followed Iron Creek to the dead end and then returned back to a sunny meadow on Iron Creek for lunch. Even though it was -10 it felt very warm.

The ice flow on Iron Springs near the Iron Creek junction did not cross the trail due to the great snow farming and trail repair that the groomers had done.

We continued up to the picnic table and then returned via Iron Springs and East Crystal Line. The trails were fairly fast but the recent grooming made it quite controllable.

It was one of those blue bird days!
