Lake Louise received 15 cm of snow yesterday(Thursday) and last night. It was truly a winter wonderland with comfortable temperatures and no wind.

The Parks Canada tracksetters were out early and had Moraine Lake road groomed and trackset by 11 a.m. They were out so early in fact, that it was still snowing when they started and the outbound lanes on MLR had about 3 cm of fresh snow. Tracks were excellent and my Swix VR45(-2/-8) was working well.

The temperature hovered around -1 and it snowed on and off throughout the day.

Fairview was trackset today and I was pleasantly surprised that it was in such good condition for this early in the season. If you ever have occasion to talk with Chateau Tracksetter Jeff, consider yourself blessed. What a nice man.

I completed the loop by skiing down Tramline on new tracksetting. It's trackset all the way to the train station.

You can continue skiing from the train station on the new tracksetting on the Bow River loop, but only on the east side of the river. The west side was skier tracked in deep snow.

Connecting to the Bow River Loop is an interesting trail known as Townsite. It was also trackset and very enjoyable. It passes about 50 metres from the front door of the Post Hotel so you could stop and have a drink as you ski by.
