Discussion:

I've been skiing at Mt Shark for years now, but always doing the Watridge trail, and sometimes venturing beyond the bridge, but since I was alone today, I finally took the opportunity to ski all the other trails at Mt Shark. Temp was -4 when I started at 0900, and -2 when I finished 3 hrs later. It was snowing the whole time I was there, from lightly to quite heavy at times. Trails were in excellent shape, however the tracks in the more exposed areas of Hercules were almost completely filled in. Snow was small grained and dry, which was great, but made for neither great grip, nor great glide on my skin skis.

When driving back, snow tapered off as I approached Pocaterra, and temperature rose to +3.

I have to admit, there were times when I thought whoever designed the trail system was a bit of a sadist, but it gave me a much greater appreciation for the capabilities of the Olympic skiers. A few years ago I would have been terrified and probably killed myself going down some of those hills. Now I was just terrified...
