Well, you have Ray's Trail Steepness chart and you also have Risto's Hill Pain Score (ouch).
In an old blog, Risto suggested that trail difficulty should not be defined solely by the steepest section or hill length, but through a combination of the two.
Risto coined a term Hill Pain Score which is a function of both hill distance and slope. He playfully showed these charts and tables for your consideration.
