Our first day of an annual father son ski trip took us to Pipestone. Only a few cars parked but never encountered anybody on the trail. We did meet two park rangers and they checked for park passes, which we have!

Our start was frosty with-22C but blue sky and sunshine all the way. We followed the blue loop #20 staying on the right side. Good snow coverage, no ice but a bit slow. Too cold to stop at halfway point and no ice castle benches to be seen yet. Great downhills followed in the meadow area and once passed the Hector turnoff, the trail was freshly tracked and we were flying all the way back to the parking lot.

A day in paradise for those braving the cold and thanks to my friend Dave Forsyth for introducing me to this trail.
