Discussion:

The weather out at Ribbon Creek area was substantially better than in Calgary (-1 to start -12 at the finish). That said, there was about 5 cm of fresh snow when I started and it snowed a lot all day (another 10 cm or so). Conditions were "slow" both up, and sadly, down as well but one cannot complain about lack of snow. I trail broke most of the way up, so it was an all time record slowest trip. Steep down hills were trivial. It was the first time that I did that trip without ever going into a snow plow. Snow shoe users have tracked up Skogan to nearly the Sunburst junction. Heavy snow use on Ruthies has made that trail pretty bumpy. There is clear signage on both routes prohibiting non skier traffic but as is often the case many of those other users simply don't care... Perhaps Parks could station a few conservation officers on skier only trails to issue tickets. It would be a great revenue stream. Polite education does not work. I suspect that consequences would.
