Five of us piled into a FLF (fully loaded Flex) last weekend and headed East. Our destination was a remote outpost at the farthest reaches of The Empire --> AB Parks' Tom Trott Hut high in the Cypress Hills.
At the trailhead we loaded up two sleds with bacon, flour and medicinal fluids. The menfolk in the party brought along AT gear with wide skins for hauling the sleds 5k (flat) to the hut.
The week before the Hills got some new snow and the tracksetter had been busy (a la NordicPulse). I think it was the first time this season that the trails were actually skiable. We enjoyed a combination of roller-packed and trackset trails as well as some good old-fashioned bushwhacking.
So yeah, the Tom Trott is an awesome place!
