Great to run into you on West Crystal Line, Roger.
I made a set of tracks on parts of West Crystal, Crystal Links 2 & 4, Loggers, Sundog and East Crystal Line... so there are some tracks to follow.
By late afternoon, the new snow had settled to about 25cm on picnic tables (which had some residual heat from yesterday), but I consistently measured 30cm of new snow on the previous snow base. On single track trails, which were bare dirt yesterday, the snow had settled and melted down to 15cm. So, it is best to stick to trails that have a snow base underneath.
One bit of good news is that the highways and roads were cleared of snow, right to the parking lot, so driving was very straightforward.

Middle Crystal Line

Loggers was pristine, but now has a skier set track.

Note the mythical figure’s ski tracks, providing evidence of clearing off a portion of the picnic table so web cam viewers can see the next wave of snowfall amounts as well as the total. 👍

Woah! You mean Alf is real and not just some mythical figure?

Love the shot of the skinny ski surfacing from the deep!

Oh Wow, WBC !

Discussion:

Our sixth “return to winter” was a particularly white one. Not all that fluffy though, as the snow is pretty wet & dense. Still, it made for a nice day of skiing through the Crystal Lines and Links.

Really great to run into Alf along the way! He pointed out that the lowermost branches of some trees have been trimmed down for the purpose of widening the snowpack. Should result in a wider skiable trail. A smart and cost-effective technique.

Expecting another big dump of snow Wednesday night…

A beautiful view

26 cm of new snow measured at this table on West Crystal Line

Kind of felt like an ice breaker today, pushing the fairly wet snow along.

Alf just heading out.
Just look at those ski's!
He was probably floating as I was breaking through.
