Discussion:

Sunday weather predicting possibly icy driving roads restricted our skiplans to nearby Banff xc trails . After a brief stop and walk about at Sundance Brewster creek trail head which included a slippery fall on ice, we drove back to Lake Minnewanaka to explore Cascade trail. 11:30 am -1 C at start and skier tracks with 1-2 cm light snow over older skier tracks . Hill climb was easy with ski techs which thankfully had a coating of skin wax dabber: protection against icing up . Crown skiis worked great . Slow but easy ski to bridge in soft lightly covered skier tracks , downhill to bridge actually needed no braking .
Beware the Bridge Crossing : narrow snow pack in center of bridge only allows cautious skier glide across, or take off skiis and walk it .
Beyond bridge we skied 20 minutes to base of uphill . Beautiful and inviting to go beyond in soft slow fluffy snow BUT without any tracks it would be too slow for our time schedule. Descent down hill was slowest in years of memory. Had to double pole sometimes . LOL .Definitely easy and fun .

Other skiers having difficulty with fresh snowfall clumping sticking to their wax less skiis (?) definitely glad we used Skin wax Protection. Spring skiing conditions ideal today and new snow was pleasant surprise .

Comment PLEA to PARKS CANADA skitrail groomer : PLEASE return and groom Cascade trail . So many spring ski days to enjoy but the trails need some improvement.

CAUTION Cascade Bridge ; Skier crossable but needs grooming . Beyond bridge the snow is so inviting ; skier tracked only few km so far . Would be a lovely ski to Cabin next time . …
