Our current spring skiing conditions seem to have pushed many skiers to the back country. The resulting trip reports and pictures have been incredible. Thanks to everyone for your efforts!
Today, I followed up on Anna's March 25th report (thanks Anna) and took my skate skis back to Mount Shark. The temperature at the parking lot was a pleasant +4 degrees with a skiff of soft snow on top of an icy base. The soft upper layer slowed my forward movement down a bit, but the uphill's seemed easier due to less back-slippage.
Classic tracks still exist but are shallow due to the warm weather.
I visited with Jens, Pat and friends who were returning from an enjoyable 3 day stay at Mount Assiniboine. Great seeing you guys!
Classic ski tracks are not in great shape but fine for skate skiing.
