Discussion:

I followed the grooming today by skiing Blueberry Hill and Elk Pass. It was minus 2 C at the 11:00 am start, and around 0 C when I finished a few hours later. It snowed the whole day, often dropping little ball bearings. I was grateful it wasn't rain. My fishscale skis did not grip well for the first km or two, but once I was up and over the big hill, the grip was excellent. The little bit of new snow in the fresh tracks made for a very silky ride, however the downhill portions were extremely slow. Wherever there was downhill grade, the best option was to ski down the middle of the trail in between the pair of tracks, as this was the fastest surface by far. It felt like skiing on ball bearings coating a slightly icy surface. The major descents were easily managed throughout for anyone able to control a snowplow on medium- or hard-packed snow. These trails should still be fine tomorrow. It was relatively quiet, but I saw skiers here and there the whole time. Overall, it was a wonderful ski for April 12. Let it continue!
