Discussion:

Moose loop tracks getting a bit wobbly and worn on the north side, but no issues on another gorgeous day. The picnic table at the Tom snow junction was in shade, so off to sit in the sunny meadows further in. But no luck as I was lured by fresh powder and trail breaking on Tom snow for my usual 2km jaunt before things got sticky. About a km in I encountered fresh lone wolf tracks that appeared to have an injured/bleeding paw. His tracks were heading south. On return I heard something coming up the trail, oh oh, the lone wolf? But not to worry, it was just “adventurous” Bob (who I met at east elk pass last season), happily following my fresh track. Thanks for the chat Bob, and for not being a wolf! Good luck with all your adventures. Returned via south moose and moose connector for a nice end to another beauty day. Craziness at the trailhead on return at 1 and about zero degrees or so (but felt much warmer). Tracks might be a bit slick first thing tomorrow.

Tom Snow north. First lunch can wait.

Oh oh. There are wild things about. Music powered down, CDS powered up.

Definately wolf (claw marks).

With the intense sun, steep south facing slopes may be hazardous.
