It's still possible to ski here for a few days, preferably with skin or skate skis. Hard wax on top of klister might work. Starting from the Mt. Kidd RV parking lot, a strong south wind propelled me north on the Bill Milne trail towards Ribbon Creek. While the protected areas featured recent grooming with great tracks, in open stretches the tracks turned into a luge run. I've never moved so fast on the flats without effort. A large ice floe area becomes your turnaround point. Upwind and slightly uphill, skin skis gave adequate grip. South of the RV park the trail is largely shaded, and in good condition towards Wedge Pond, as well as both the old and new Wedge Connector. The new section is a delightful, gently sloped and curving trail.

After lunch, skating north on Bill Milne was not pleasant, as the sun had turned the trail sticky. Quickly retreated to the shady Wedge Pond and Connector circuit.

Total distance: 18.00 Km

Trail northbound from Mt. Kidd RV park

End of the road, ice floe ahead

Mt. Kidd RV park. Large parking lot, coffee/hot chocolate inside.

Wedge Connector takes you to "view area" near bridge washed away in 2013 flood.
