Snow, Snow, Snow… PLPP

Discussion:

It seems if you wait a few days more snow will come… Kind of a crazy season.

I hadn’t skied for 10 days so, it was a real pleasure to get another opportunity & get out there. The temperature was mild with gentle winds, unlike gusty Calgary today. The trails on the south end of PLPP are largely skier trackset, although some areas remain completely untouched from the latest snowfall.

A fairly short ski today: I took Elk Pass, up Patterson then returned back via Hydroline & Fox Creek. Some minor clumping up Patterson on the sun exposed areas. Everything else was just great!

I really want to thank all those hard-working GROOMERS for their efforts fine this year. I know many have gone beyond their call of duty !

Starting of up Elk Pass
Mashed potatoes anyone?

Awesome view at the top of the big hill

Elk Pass

Looking up Elk pass from the Patterson junction.
Mind made up: I'm going up Patterson

Patterson - Hydroline Junction
It's getting sunny!

Southern approach to the Lookout is nicely skier trackset

Fox Creek beauty

More Fox Creek

Signs of spring!

Today's route

Thanks for the report, Roger. Nice to find out where the big snowfall happened. Didn't happen in Canmore. There was max 3-4cm dry snow on top of ice at CNC today.

You definitely got better weather than expected Roger. Seems only right to follow some of those tracks tomorrow. Doesn’t look too deep though if sticking to the recent grooming. Meadows should be good with a decent crust with dust. Thanks for the report!

Right arm! Great report.

Mashed potatoes, not just for the dinner table anymore.

Yes MaSid, I was anticipating a completely cloudy day. Got the opposite.

As a general personal rule, gotta ski at least twice as long as the drive in order to balance health benefits with energy consumption, take at least one other person with you, or ski twice as fast. Unless of course using the one time allowable annual exemption for potential last ski day (we achieved the goals already over the year and did it just for happiness).

On my way down the Elk Pass trail today I saw one XC ski track heading up the Elk Pass trail and up Patterson, but no down track. So figured the person must have come down Hydroline. I guess it was you!

Hey Mike,
One day our tracks will definitely meet!
Then I’ll look up and you’ll be gone, no doubt …🔥
