Discussion:
On April 14, 2024 we skied up to Popes Peak Col from the Lake O’Hara parking lot, on a beautiful sunny spring day. We started from the Lake O’Hara parking lot at 8:00 am and skied up the road for about 1 km before beginning our climb up through the Narao glades. At treeline we rounded the north ridge of Narao Peak and got the first view or our objective. The views of the peaks in the Lake Louise area from Popes Peak Col are spectacular, as was the ski down from the col. The snow down through the Narao glades had softened up enough to also be great fun to ski. We were back at the Lake O’Hara parking lot at 3:30 pm.
Total time 7.5 hours, Total Distance 16.7 km, Total Elevation Gain 1395 m.
