First Trip to West Elk Pass for 2022.
Surprisingly few people on this trail given the superb conditions. Skier set from the parking lot to Blueberry junction. Left the ski trail here and picked up MaSid's trail to the snow couch. Actually met him by the BC border. Broke trail past the snow couch for a kilometer or so. Consistent ankle deep powder above a supportive buried crust across the meadows. Used Swix V45 successfully for the entire day.

Kudos to MaSid for creating the snow couch. If you haven't been it's located in a great spot with a fine view - just perfect for a chocolate & tea break.

The track-setter was unloading his machine as we left the Elk Lakes parking lot around 5 pm.
