Discussion:

The sightseeing at Lake Louise in the daytime is spectacular, but if you're willing to ski across the lake in the dark, you'll see something completely different.

The ski trail takes you to the ice castle in front of the chateau. You can also ski on the wide walking path which is hard-packed but clean and very skiable.

The snow is cold.

I arrived in Lake Louise in late afternoon and had time to ski the Bow River Loop which is in pretty good shape, especially the south loop(south of the campground bridge). The north section has a few pine needles.

The chateau as seen from the ski trail on the lake

I was skiing on the walking path to take this and the following photos.

The walking path in front of the chateau is hardpacked but clean. Nice on which to ski.

Nice shots. It pays to ski after dark 30 at the right time.
