Hey Mr. D.,
Glad I did not have to try and beat your record ski at minus 45 C.
It was only minus 41 here in Banff this morning (feeling like -46 with the wind chill), so I stayed home!

Howdy Chuck,
I used to ski as cold as -45c at night up north when I worked in camps. I used to have a special balaclava that even covered my nose but had a special "nose spout" that would go downward to keep icicles out of the nose hairs. I never felt the cold with my quality gear that included a wicked Arctic coat bought in about 1971 from Eddie Bauer I believe. I still have that coat. It just needs a new zipper.
I skied up north at night after work because there would only be one TV in the camps with hundreds of guys watching and the channel would always be on the porn channel. Not the kind of TV or place I like. Star and moon shows are so much better skiing at night while hooting with the owls.

Discussion:
At minus 32 C, the only thing howling was my car, not the coyotes today.
Be careful not to ski too fast... the hairs in my nostrils were freezing like icicles, making it difficult to breathe!
The skate skier that I met on the Cascade wishes that staff would groom trails after snow fall.
Happy winter solstice everyone... conditions will get better!
Why would anyone turn back... now I have to break trail!
No picnic today, despite the sunny location and beautiful ice crystals
Please keep skiing this loop in preparation for our full moon ski
