I see the deck and table at the cabin are snow covered again since I cleared it off on Christmas Eve. The size 43 ski boots make for a reasonable shovel when pushing the snow with the side of the foot. A lot of the snow will drop through the spaces in the boards on the deck, making the snow removal process relatively easy.

That new snow should make for fine xc skiing on the trail to Elk Trap. Take advantage of it while you can. All the little creeks are easily crossable for your skiing pleasure. Enjoy all the snowshoe hares on the trail. This may enable you to see a lynx if you are lucky.

Discussion:

Ski today on Cascade was exceptional. Nice fresh snow over the tracks. Lots of glide and grip. Temp nice minus 6 - 9 degrees. Very few people out when we started. We arrived at the cabin at about 1:30 and had lunch on the deck. The sun appeared above the mountain at about 2:00 which gave us some extra warmth. Overall the trail is in great shape.
