Howdy All Ye Skiers,

Redearth Creek is "supposed" to be trackset by January 13 by the Alpine Club of Canada which is awfully late in the season and pretty shabby public service by this corporation.

If the trail does not have some loose snow on it at the time of tracksetting, the tracksetting will be chunky and basically suck.

Pray for snow at your nearest favorite church or if you are more into praying to snow gods like Ullr (pronounced ooo-lar) or Khione the Greek goddess of snow, daughter of Boreas, god of the North Wind and Winter, and sister of Zethes and Calais although you may prefer some sort of god of the west wind or upslope wind to dump warmer snow. Perhaps there is some Hawaiian god that will bring in a Pineapple express which would really give a good dump of snow laced with ash and hydrochloric acid (HCl) and sulfuric acid (H2SO4) from the Kīlauea volcano. That might be a little sticky on the ski bases though.

Get your skis waxed up for that day and fill your pack up with water and food to enjoy a great long day up at Shadow Lake and ideally ski beyond and challenge yourself. Don't forget the headlamp.

Be careful not to misread the Parks Canada Trail Condition report

Discussion:

Note that the date beside the trail is not the date it was trackset... it is the date that it was updated by Parks Canada staff.
The date that it was last trackset is in the introductory paragraph for the area.
The report by Helen Read about Redearth is misleading... it was not trackset on January 7.
