Sounds like a fantastic day, Helen.
I remember chatting with Denise who runs that quaint little shop at the edge of Emerald Lake. She mentioned that’s where you buy your birds.
I attached the picture you emailed me.

Temps as promised on Environment Canada -8 warming to -5. Like Chuck, we waddled out from Burgess D-R to behold brand new track-setting on Emerald Classic to Alluvial Fan (my very favourite trail). The mountains surrounding us emerged into sight as we made our way around the Fan. Stopped in at the little store and purchased many metal birds to hang discretely at a later date. Drove down to Natural Bridge and skied on Tally Ho to the old ski hill back in 1947/48 when Kicking Horse Ski Club first came into being. Gather there was a rope tow there back in the day. The grooming was excellently done with wider semi-snowplow options. That trail is maybe 2.3 kms. one way but a fun downhill with evidence of a little crash site today. Fresh snow in parking lot around 3 cms.
Total distance: 12.00 Km
