Yeah, they put on a great live show!

Dick let me use that tune royalty free but now that the vid has gone viral the Badger Mountain Boys might get a bit surly (as badgers tend to do).

Great music in the video.
I got to see them live at a fire hall in Iowa.

Band venue in Iowa.

Great sleuthing, Mike.
Like many, I love a good controversy but should we Badger him?

Aqua Toque, excellent report as always. However your video was hijacked by the nefarious "Taxidea Taxus" cyber-criminal gang. Forensic analysis reveals that the imposter skier was not wearing a toque at all, let alone an aqua one!

Discussion:

The other day in town I crossed paths with an old drifter. Judging by the scars he bore (physical and emotional) I could tell he had lived a lifetime in badger country. We engaged in conversation which turned out to be a rather one-sided affair. I smiled and nodded as he rambled on and on, often incoherently, about this and that. I did manage to glean route finding information about some open slopes he had travelled through in days gone by. What he described sounded like decent terrain for turns.

And thus our story begins….

I must be on the right track! This appears to be a long-forgotten volunteer-maintained route once used by traders and trappers.

Wait, evidence of recent travel? The old drifter perhaps?

From up high a view of the Great Plains. Legend has it that herds of badgers once roamed and thrived on these flatlands until they were hunted to the brink of extinction by German settlers with weiner dogs (dachshunds). Descendants of the few surviving badgers now inhabit the foothills tormenting X-C skiers to exact revenge (badgers can really hold a grudge).

High peaks rise to the West. This is why there are no badgers in British Columbia.

Don't drop your guard while gazing at the blue skies and stunning views. You could end up on the news -- victim of a fake badger attack.

Someone's idea of badger control.

Here is a short video account of the travel and ski conditions encountered on this day. Set to a rousing instrumental number by Dick Waverly and the Badger Mountain Boys.
