I skied a quick "core trail figure 8" (Sundog W-Crystal E-Sundog E-Loggers-Crystal W) after dropping off my granddaughter at her Bragg Creek Jackrabbits program at WBC late this afternoon. Conditions were generally excellent, with underlying icy spots felt at times, but they were few and far between. Tracksets were well defined and nicely fast, downhills smooth and easygoing, and grip waxing trouble-free using Swix VR45. Awesome- It's amazing what the groomers did with only 5-6 cm of new snow! I finished up just as Groomer Bill got back to the barn after grooming Elbow and Iron Springs. He cautioned to beware of especially thin snow on the sunny meadow section of Iron Springs.

Discussion:

Below is a brief update from Groomer David of Bragg Creek Trails. Thanks to everyone for their fantastic work!

West Bragg received a nice 5 cm of new snow over the last 24 hrs. This was enough for groomers to get out early this morning and set some new track. By Saturday morning all trails will have seen new tracks with plans to visit Telephone sometime over the weekend.

Conditions are variable with really nice tracks and tread on the inner ‘core' trails and some thin spots further out. The first km of Mountain Rd is very thin but don't despair , beyond there conditions are very good. Also expect thin sections on north Moose (the meadow section), conditions are much better on the rest of the loop.

Watch for a layer of ice underneath the new snow in some sun exposed spots and take care on those steep hills.

Have fun out there!
