I skied from the Nakiska ski area to Hummingbird Plume, going up Sunburst and return via High Level. Fresh grooming was superb, with some needles and tree debris here and there. Two skiers were ahead of me on Skogan, but I was the first one up Sunburst.
Crossing the downhill ski slope, I took the usual route through the woods, only to find it blocked off on the other side!
I saw a great variety of tracks today, including big cat (meowza!), and pondered how I never actually saw one. Well, lo and behold, on my return there was a beautiful lynx just sitting at the junction of Skogan and Sunburst!! I was thrilled beyond belief, but joy turned to sorrow when the lovely cat limped away on 3 paws, with the 4th just dangling.
I had the best run down from there, but with much sadness......
Total distance: 13.00 Km
The fence blocking Hidden trail, with narrow defile for snowmobile and skier to squeeze through.
Leaving the ski hill, trail conditions improved.
Glorious view from lookout.
Lovely but injured lynx.
Heading down......
