Discussion:

We started at the Boulton Creek Campground at 9:40 a.m. with a temperature of -4C. We used a purplish-blue was which worked very well. We finished with a temperature of 0C.

We went along Moraine which was snow covered with a thin layer and some needles but manageable. Jamie opted for Fox Creek which was good. I went down to the Elk Pass Parking Lot and back up along the Elk Pass trail which is in good shape. The hill down to the Fox Creek junction is fast. Middle Elk Pass is lovely with snow on the trees. I checked out Patterson up & down and it's in great condition. We travelled up to Blueberry Hill. The downhill is getting a bit worn and slick in a few spots, but not bad. Upper Elk Pass is beautiful. Tyrwhitt is trackset which was a nice surprise for us. It's still a bit rough in spots with some twigs but very decent. Our choice of downhill was Whiskey Jack. It's getting a bit worn, especially on the S-curve but quite doable with caution.

We enjoyed wishing other skiers "Happy New Year". I especially liked meeting the couple that started and ended at the same time as us, doing similar loops in opposite directions (from what I could tell). A comment from another skier... "I never had a bad day cross-country skiing". Was that you, Jean-Francois? This makes me very happy. We had an awesome outing!
